Plastic bag levy has raised £172,000
SHOPPERS cutting back on plastic bags have raised £172,000 for charity.
The Southern Co-operative is donating the cash to good causes after seeing a 71 per cent drop in plastic bag use.
It comes after the government introduced a 5p levy on single-use bags in shops and supermarkets in October.
