Chichester man cleared of murdering Luke Jeffrey

Samuel Morgan, 19, of Adelaide Road, was also found not guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter in court today, Wednesday, August 17.
The jury at Hove Crown Court took a day to consider its verdict before delivering a not guilty verdict for either murder or manslaughter.

Hide AdMr Jeffrey, 18, from Bognor Regis, died of a single stab wound inflicted on the night of March 11 in Chichester.
During a week-long trial, the court heard how Morgan stabbed Mr Jeffrey following a row over money for drugs.
He died the following day at Southampton General Hospital.
The jury accepted Mr Morgan’s account that he had used a kitchen knife in self defence and had not intended to kill or seriously injure the fellow teenager.
