Family wellbeing: Horizon Leisure Centres are dedicated to helping families stay fit while having fun together

Getting the kids moving has never been more important. Sport England research* has shown that just 47% of children in England were achieving an average of 60 minutes of physical activity each day, with nearly one in three children doing less than 30 minutes of activity a day.

Which is why Horizon Leisure understands that being a parent can be tough going, and fitting in time for your own wellbeing routine, as well as your children’s, might seem near impossible.

The Horizon Leisure centres at Havant and Waterlooville can help you with the daily juggle of a busy schedule.

The centres’ tots to teens THRIVE programme has been designed to support young people aged from 0-15 years with their physical and emotional development through a diverse range of after school activities and clubs.

Horizon Leisure’s Thrive activities take place at family-friendly times

These provide a creative outlet for children, allowing them to engage in activities whilst parents have the opportunity to focus on their own wellbeing; popping to the gym or for a swim, safe in the knowledge their children are safe and having fun with our team of experts.

And they’re scheduled at friendly times to suit parents and children, taking place shortly after the school day ends right up until after the normal working day ends.

The THRIVE activities cater for children and young people of all physical abilities, ensuring an inclusive and enjoyable experience for all.

That means whether your little ones are full of energy, or prefer a more laid-back approach, Horizon Leisure has got you covered.

Physical activity comes in lots of shapes and sizes! Plus the centres even have cool hangout areas and homework clubs!

Activities boost mental and emotional wellbeing

THRIVE clubs also recognise the importance of quality family time and so lots of the activities are suitable for the whole family.

Exercising together is a great way to have fun together, and a great excuse to put those phones away!

Some of the family activities include Les Mill’s Born to Move group exercise class, knit and sit club, indoor cycle, family circuits, family yoga, eight-ball pool club and swimming.

When kids engage in physical activity, they not only strengthen their bodies but also boost their mental and emotional wellbeing.

And here’s the cool part; when families get involved in these activities together, they inspire each other to stay fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
