A bake-off style fundraiser took place at the Buckland Community Centre, Buckland, in Portsmouth, to raise money for and to launch a new charity.
The charity – MAKE Charity Foundation – has been set up in honour of the late Mohammed Abdul Kaeum Esquire, a Portsmouth resident for over 30 years, who died in 2013.

Abdul Kaeum’s son Salim Rahman said: ‘Charity begins at home, the home of our late father.
‘So we are starting charitable projects in the village of Kelagram in the district of Sylhet, Bangladesh.
‘It was my father’s wish that we continue to support local building projects, such as schools and mosques as well as support the poor and needy with medical and education costs.’

The competition was judged by the former Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Frank Jonas.
It was won by Amira Rahman, 15, from North End, who made a three-layered cake decorated with a blue rose.
The event raised £2,225 and the event organisers will be announcing more events in future.
