Mum inspires her children to raise thousands in abseil
Ben, Tom and Beth Paterson and Katy Goodwin, from Southsea, planned to complete the charity abseil as soon as they learned their mother, Jane, had been diagnosed for the second time with the illness.
Their initial target was £500, which they quickly achieved.

Sadly Jane, a 57-year-old occupational therapist, also from Southsea, died two months ago, making her children even more determined to raise as much money as possible in their mum’s memory and for the charity that helps fight against cancer.
They went ahead with the abseil and completed it to the cheers of family and friends.
Tom, 22, said: ‘While raising so much money for such an amazing charity was really unexpected, and we are so grateful to everyone that did donate, the main reason why we did the abseil was to raise awareness for Macmillan and its staff.’

The quartet were supported on the day by proud dad Pat.
