Slice of Portsmouth history will return to the city
AN HISTORIC copy of a charter granted by King Richard I more than 800 years ago will go on display in Portsmouth.
The 14th century replica of the Portsmouth Charter will go on display at the city’s museum from Friday, April 19.
It marks the 825th anniversary of when Richard I originally gave the people of Portsmouth its first royal charter on May 2, 1194.
