Lee-on-the-Solent Sailing Club in Marine Parade East has submitted plans to demolish the current building, to make way for a new clubhouse and nine two-bedroom flats.
According to the sailing club, plans have been in motion for a redevelopment for many years – but it looks like plans could finally be in motion.

‘The aim is to provide a more compact and modern clubhouse on three floors, with the flats providing the funding for the club house.’
The sailing club has drawn up redevelopment plans in the past, but to no avail.
Peter said: ‘We have had a few stabs at it in the past and come up with a number of different designs.

‘This new developer has done a lot of research and work – so we are confident this is a viable scheme and would love to see it go ahead.’
The sailing club says that the proposed site would blend in with the rest of the buildings along the Lee-on-the-Solent seafront.
Commodore Warburton said: ‘It is going to be an attractive building on the seafront – the current building dates back to the 1950s and stands out compared with the modern feel of the area.

‘We think our members will really like the new site and we will also be able to attract new members at the same time.’
If the plans are approved it is expected that work will begin in spring, taking around 18 months to complete.
