Quaint old farm cottages were behind Coach and Horses pub
They turned out to be at Hilsea, Portsmouth, and my colleague Bob Hind and his picture collector contact Barry Cox thought they might have been at the junction of Northwood Road and London Road.
John Marshallsay disagrees, saying: ‘It was behind the original Coach and Horses pub, where the tool hire shop is now, behind the new Coach and Horses.’

Hide AdHe adds: ‘According to the 1900 map I’ve got, there was nothing on the junction of where Northwood Road is now, only houses around the Coach and Horses.
‘From there down to where the Green Posts pub is was Oak farm, hence the name of Oakwood Road, the first road to be built on the estate.
‘If you have a look at the original Coach and Horses pub, you can actually see the old building in the background.’
