Review: The Hollies at the Guildhall, Portsmouth
As drummer Bobby Elliot told The News, many people know the songs but are sometimes surprised that they’re by The Hollies.
All the familiar tunes got an airing in a two-hour show at the Guildhall on the last night of their current tour.

Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliot have been touring for more than 50 years and bassist Ray Stiles has 30 years in the band, following a successful decade of hits with Mud in the 70s.
Even the new members have been in the band for 12 years, so it’s no surprise that the sound is tight and the harmonies impeccable.
He Ain’t Heavy got a standing ovation, followed by another for the inevitable The Air That I
Breathe.
The Hollies closed with their biggest American hit, Long Cool Woman which, had the audience on their feet throughout.
