Pompey pensioner Joyce Tynan is throwing her weight behind our Arise Sir Harry campaign – by organising a massive petition.
The 75-year-old, who never misses a match, went round the streets collecting signatures demanding the Pompey manager be knighted.

Mrs Tynan, who got her hands on the FA Cup at Kanu's charity match last week, reckons Harry's earned the honour.

'Harry's done such a lot for us,' she said.

'He's not just a good manager for Pompey, he's loved throughout the country. And he's done a lot for the city.'

Mrs Tynan, who has been one of Pompey's biggest fans for the last 62 years, took to Fawcett Road, Southsea, where traders were lining up to sign the petition.

The grandmother-of-two, who has lived in nearby Cleveland Road for 47 years with husband Paddy, said: 'They all know me down here. I'm the longest-running resident in my road.

'Everyone wants to sign the petition.

'They all know I'm a big football fan.

'And most of us round here are Pompey fans because we're so close to Fratton Park.'

Mrs Tynan started cheering on the side in 1946 when she was just 13.

She's followed the team to away games all over the country and even travelled abroad to watch them play.

She's now calling on Downing Street to make it 'Sir Harry'.

'It's through Harry that so many of the players have come to the club,' she said.

'He was the attraction for a lot of them and I know players have said they would never have come to Portsmouth if it wasn't for Harry.

'He had the guts to come back to this club after going to Southampton.

'A lot of fans didn't like that and it really took some guts to come back.

'It took time for a lot of people but they've gradually come round and everyone loves Harry now and I think some people are a bit sorry they were so nasty to him.'
