The firm's customer service team was awarded the money as part of the company's Make it Zero safety scheme, following excellent safety records.
They chose to donate the cash to Help a Local Child, a charity that is committed to helping local child
ren and young people under 18 in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight who experience poverty, abuse, neglect, homelessness, violence, crime, illness and disability.
Katie Hazell, of Help a Local Child, said: 'This is a fantastic boost to the charity's fund-raising. The money donated as a result of all the hard work from the team at Southern Electric will be put to very good use in our local community and surrounding areas.'
Southern Electric customer service manager Bev Keogh said: 'Southern Electric people are genuinely passionate about working safely and this attitude is reflected by the team's Make it Zero award.
