A new depot has opened in Portsmouth, geared at maintaining the homes and gardens of thousands of residents.
Twenty workers have been hired by Wessex Property Services including gas engineers, carpenters, electricians and gardeners – and the company is recruiting more.

The depot, at Fitzherbert Spur, Farlington, will look after the homes of 4,000 Portsmouth Housing Association residents.

WPS and PHA are part of First Wessex Housing Group.

Group technical director Tom Antrobus said: 'We are delighted to be providing this improved service to residents and also to be providing job opportunities to local people.

The firm also carries out contract work for customers including Hampshire police, Hampshire Autistic Society and Eastleigh Council.
