A REPLICA of the FA cup is being used as a way of raising funds for the Hilsea Lido.
Christian Mascia, manager of The Pizza House in Hilsea, bought the cup on eBay and hopes to raise funds for the Hilsea Lido Pool For The People group, through pictures of the cup.

The 27-year-old is asking customers who want to take pictures of themselves with the cup, to make a donation to the lido fund.

He said: 'If customers want to bring their own camera they can make a donation to the lido fund and get their picture taken with the cup.

'We already sponsor some of the players at Pompey so it seemed a fitting way of raising money when they are going to Wembley.'

The cup was ordered on the online auction website last week and now takes pride of place in the restaurant.

Cllr Alistair Thompson for Hilsea said; 'The restaurant already has great food and a great atmosphere but now customers have another reason to go.

'Christian cares about the Hilsea Lido and it is great to have his support.'

Chairwoman of the Hilsea Lido Pool For The People Jane Smith said: 'I know the strength of feeling for the football here so it is an excellent way of connecting us.

'What an excellent way of promoting the Hilsea Lido and Portsmouth Football Club. We are very pleased to involve the local community in this way.'
