HIGH-PROFILE African officials and media staff are in Portsmouth to use media facilities at Highbury College.
Nigerian government officers are being trained in media skills as part of a 10-day course beginning today.
They will be followed by 45 employees of Nigeria-based African Independent Television later in the year.
The visit follows on from college staff going to Nigeria in March to hold workshops at the fifth African Film and Television Expo.
Peter Moutray, head of media and journalism at the college, said: 'This opportunity to train the Nigerian government officers has come about from links we made at the Expo.
'We enjoy a high-quality reputation within journalism in the UK and clearly we impressed in Nigeria.'
The course will also serve as a cultural exchange.
