Never mind the doom and gloom – a 47-acre site in Eastleigh is rapidly beginning to fill up.
Eastleigh Works, the former Alstom site at Campbell Road, Eastleigh, has just seen another business snap up a space.
Associated Polymer Resources, a firm which recycles plastics, has just become the ninth occupier secured on the estate by property
agent St Modwen, managing the site on behalf of Key Property Investments – a joint venture between St Modwen Properties PLC and Salhia Real Estate Company.
Associated Polymer Resources has taken a five-year lease on the 6,300 sq ft unit at an annual rent of £4.50 per sq ft.
Paul Arnold, senior development manager for St Modwen, said short term to medium term lettings were being sought at the managed estate while the long-term future redevelopment was planned.
He said: 'The latest transaction underlines the continuing interest in flexible accommodation available on attractive terms on a well-located, secure managed estate. We have a good level of interest and negotiations are progressing on the letting of other units.'
Up to another 250,000 sq ft of non-rail and rail-connected office space and industrial buildings are available to let on the estate.
The edge-of-town site provides more than 600,000 sq ft of rolling stock repair sheds, warehousing and open storage areas within the South Hampshire Strategic Employment Zone.
Situated 1.5 miles from Junction five of the M27, the site was acquired as part of the Alstom portfolio in December 2002.
Last year, St Modwen took the reins on the estate following Alstom Transport's decision to vacate it.
