MEMBERS of the local community in Horndean got together to celebrate the reopening of a Co-operative store.

Acorn Community Centre officially reopened the store in Catherington Lane which had been closed for refurbishment.

Changes included a new bakery, plus space for more chilled and frozen produce.

Energy saving measures were also introduced including doors on the chillers and LED lighting.

To celebrate the reopening, the first 50 customers were treated to a complimentary box of chocolates.

Team leader Wesley Abrahart said: ‘It’s much better now. It was getting a bit dated. It didn’t look very appealing.

‘We have got a lot more space out here so we can get a lot more things people are asking for.’
