A PORTSMOUTH school pupil has caught the love bug after designing a futuristic Volkswagen Beetle.

Shevaun Bishop, 14, from Admiral Lord Nelson School in Copnor, came top in a contest run in conjunction with the south coast’s Peter Cooper Volkswagen Group.

It was run to celebrate the dealership’s 30th anniversary.

She will now have her design – how she thinks the Beetle will look in another 30 years’ time – hung up in the car chain’s Portsmouth dealership.

She also won £300 worth of PC World vouchers.

She said: ‘It’s really nice to win. I really enjoyed designing a futuristic Beetle and it will be great to see it on display at the showroom.’

Richard Morgan, group operations manager at Peter Cooper, added: ‘We wanted the pupils’ imaginations to run wild and they certainly didn’t disappoint.

‘Judging was incredibly difficult due to the tremendously high standard but it was a joy to see them all and the effort that had gone in.’
