A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND educational programme which will develop Portsmouth’s future entrepreneurs and business leaders was launched at Portsmouth College yesterday.

The Faith & Football Enterprise and Leadership Academy will run throughout the current academic year, and is sponsored by Affinion International, based in the city.

The Academy will be led by Mick Mellows, who founded the Christian charity Faith & Football along with Pompey legend Linvoy Primus.

The initiative brings together commercial and educational partners from across Portsmouth to give the Year 10 students a unique insight into all areas of business life.

Academy Director Mr Mellows said: ‘Faith & Football is committed to making a difference to people’s lives and I know we will achieve that with the launch of this new academy, which will bring the world of business to life and make it real.

‘We genuinely believe there will be history-makers among our students and we’re excited to be able to contribute to their development and that of Portsmouth as a whole.’
