HAMPSHIRE County Council has signed up to the Federation of Small Business’ engagement accord, which aims to forge better connections within the local business community.

It means the council has declared its support for small businesses and has committed to make communication between firms and the authority much easier.

The accord’s principles include nominating business engagement champions from the business community and within the council, as well as encouraging greater consultation with a wider range of business and community leaders.

Council leader Ken Thornber said: ‘It is important that we listen to small businesses to ensure that their interests and needs are taken into account when we develop policies and services.’

Hampshire County Council is pleased to sign up to the accord, which reflects how we already do business as a council.’
