MORE than 40,000 people are expected to travel through Southampton Airport this bank holiday half-term, as passengers depart in search of sunshine.

Flybe has added extra flights to its Alicante, Malaga, Faro, Palma Mallorca and Nice routes.

Other popular destinations include Edinburgh and Glasgow, and flights to Guernsey and Jersey in the Channel Islands are also expected to be busy.

Dave Lees, the airport’s managing director, said: ‘Bank holiday half-term is always a popular time here and the combination of the half-term break, the recent unseasonably gloomy weather, and the start of a number of our summer sun routes, means that we’re expecting the airport to be busy this weekend.’
