AN APPRENTICE has won two prestigious awards.

John Burns, who works at Solent Bodybuilders & Repairs, in Segensworth, won Apprentice of the Year and the Thatcham Research Academy Independent Bodyshop Apprentice of the Year for 2016 at the recent Thatcham Repair Focus 2016 event.

Kevin Sainsbury, director, said: ‘John’s apprenticeship specialised in commercial vehicle repair and he has shown great determination and enthusiasm to achieve his qualification. Winning the Apprentice of the Year and the Independent Bodyshop Apprentice is well deserved and we are all proud of John’s achievement.’

John said: ‘It actually felt amazing. It made me feel that all the hard work, the hours of studying at college and countless hours of on the job training has finally paid off. To anyone considering an apprenticeship I would say to them go for it.  Be prepared to put in 100 per cent effort and be willing to learn.’

The Thatcham Research Academy is a leading provider of skills training and accreditation to the motor repair and insurance industries.

Mr Sainsbury said: ‘Apprentices like John are an asset to the business and it’s a relationship where everyone benefits. We’re on the lookout for our next star apprentice.’
