GENEROUS workers from BAE Systems have raised thousands of pounds for armed forces charities.

The Portsmouth-based defence firm presented £3,400 to the Royal British Legion, the Royal Navy, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, Soldiers, Sailors, and Armed Forces Association (SSAFA).

The money was raised through the company’s annual charity activity night and was split among the good causes.

Alick Brown, the assistant secretary at SSAFA Hampshire, said: ‘We would like to thank BAE Systems for their wonderfully generous donation of £850.

‘We would like all those who contributed their time and money to know it will help us fulfil our pledge to provide lifelong support to our forces and their families.’
