COLLEAGUES from Halifax branches across the Portsmouth area have helped to transform the garden of a family to make it a safe place for their children to play.

The work has been part of the bank’s nationwide partnership with charity Home-Start.

Staff from branches in the Portsmouth area went the extra mile to support the project. They first took on a 26-mile sponsored walk between all the branches in the Portsmouth area, which raised £2,400.

Following this, Halifax colleagues have volunteered their time to work in the garden and transform it into a safe and pleasant place to play.

Louise Smith, manager of the Halifax Havant branch who led the project, said: ‘It has been fantastic to work with Home-Start and so many Halifax colleagues on this project, and I hope it will make a real difference.

‘I would like to thank everyone who has helped out, including the walkers raising money and the people giving up their time to help in the garden.’
