Bank thanks kind people in Portsmouth for charity support

GENEROUS people in the Portsmouth area have been praised by a high street bank for backing its charity appeal.

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation thanked people for helping it reach its £7m donation milestone.

More than 80 charities and good causes have received a total of more than £37,000 through the society’s Portsmouth branch since the charitable foundation’s first donation in 1999.

Solent MS Therapy Centre, Friends of the Homeless in Fareham and Gosport and The Elizabeth Foundation were among those to benefit.

Emma Palmer, manager at the Portsmouth branch of Yorkshire Building Society, said they could not have hit the goal ‘without the support’ of the city.
