BEN Ainslie Racing is pressing on with the development of its America’s Cup headquarters in Old Portsmouth.

Steel is being delivered and put into place, with concrete plinths going in at The Camber site this month.

Areas of the site continue to be excavated while the foundations are completed.

Work will continue throughout the winter to meet the May 1, 2015 completion deadline. The base will include a visitors’ centre. School and educational groups will be able to use the facilities.

In October, the team invited pupils from local schools to take part in an art project on its hoardings surrounding the site.

A number of schools took part in the one-day session, with pupils meeting Sir Ben Ainslie, pictured.

The team says it is waiting for good weather to finish the painting. The racing team is holding fortnightly meetings for members of the public.

The meetings at Cathedral House in St Thomas’s Street are held to keep residents informed about what is going on.

The next takes place on Thursday from 6pm to 7pm and will have members of the team on hand to answer questions.

Open meetings are held at the same time every two weeks and a presentation is given at each.
