INNOVATIVE design has landed Portsmouth’s Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing Team headquarters an award for being one of the best workplaces in the country.

The building was recognised at the British Council for Offices annual National Awards earlier this week, taking home the Innovation award.

The awards recognise office design and functionality.

Moving from planning approval to completion within 12 months, the judges said that the Land Rover BAR Team HQ represents not only a victory in planning, but in project management and innovative design.

Judges were impressed by the sustainable and energy-efficient nature of the building, and were complimentary about the speed of construction.

The judges praised the project team, who worked to meet the difficult brief set by LandRover BAR, coupling innovative design with impressive facilities such as F1 style meeting rooms and a state-of-the-art gym.

Emma Crawford, BCO national awards chair, said: ‘Passion, skill and determination are necessary to succeed in the world of competitive yacht racing, and those same attributes have been applied to the delivery of Land Rover BAR’s base.’
