ABOUT 85 homes in Southsea were left without power yesterday after a workman hit a cable.

The contractor struck the cable in St Vincent Road at 3pm, which caused a blackout in that street along with others nearby.

A Southern Electric spokesman said: ‘An engineer was sent to fix the problem. We apologise for the loss of power.’
