IT’S not many bosses who’d choose to go back to the shop floor for the day, but that’s exactly what the founders of a pet store chain have done.

Steve and Debbie Fowler founded the PamPurredPets shops 30 years ago, and to celebrate the milestone they took to the floor at their shop in Cosham for the day.

Three decades on from that first shop, the couple now own a chain with a £12m turnover that employs more than 350 people across 44 stores in southern England and South Wales.

After their day at work, Steve said: ‘It was really good to meet our customers again, because that’s not something we really get the chance to do any more.’

The Cosham store was opened in 1990 and was the first in Portsmouth, followed by the Fratton store.

It led the way for 16 stores in Hampshire including Gosport, Fareham, Waterlooville and Havant.
