The British Heart Foundation is asking the Portsmouth community for help.

The charity is looking for a fundraising group to be set up to help fund important heart research.

Heart and circulatory diseases cause the death of about 487 people in Portsmouth every year.

Around 20,250 people are suffering from these devastating conditions in the local area.

Neil Jarret, BHF fundraising manager for Hampshire, said: ‘Too many lives are lost in Portsmouth each year, and we’re determined to do everything we can to protect more families from this devastation.

‘By starting up a fundraising group you can help us fund the research that’s so desperately needed to bring us closer to beating heart disease.’

Heart and circulatory problems affect a wide range of people, from babies to adults.

Fundraising groups are the main way the BHF represents itself in local communities. To start a new group, contact Neil Jarret on 07879 480835 or email jarretn@bhf.org.uk.
