MPs in the area have welcomed the news that super-fast broadband will be arriving next year.

Wickham, Stubbington and Lee-on-the-Solent are among seven places to benefit from BT’s plans to expand its network in 2013.

George Hollingbery, the MP for Meon Valley, and Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage both say it will be a big boost for businesses.

Mr Hollingbery said: ‘This is great news for Wickham and the other places in Hampshire – many of them rural.

‘Lack of good broadband speed has been a headache for my constituents who rely on the internet for their livelihoods and who want to expand their business and employ more people.’

Ms Dinenage added: ‘This massive investment is fantastic news for local families and businesses.’
