DEMOLITION is well under way to make way for new shops.

Buildings opposite Tesco off Solent Road in Havant have been flattened as part of a multi-million pound scheme to extend Solent Retail Park.

The buildings demolished include the Pizza Hut restaurant.

Earlier this year new designs were submitted to Havant Borough Council showing M&S as one of the occupiers of a unit.

There are five units in total, but other companies were not named on the plans.

Developer Hargreaves is leading the project.

Councillor Mike Cheshire, leader of the council, said: ‘We are trying very hard to regenerate our town centres as best as we possibly can.’
