BUSINESS confidence in the south east remains low according to financial analysts.
The latest data from the ICAEW/Grant Thornton UK Business Confidence Monitor shows the Confidence Index now stands at minus 7.4. This is well below its high of 29.8 seen in the second quarter of 2010 and is believed to reflect the region’s concerns over global economic conditions and the eurozone crisis.
Fay Webster, the ICAEW’s south east regional director said: ‘The results highlight the ongoing tough economic climate in the region.
‘In particular, customer demand remains a concern, with half of south east firms finding their levels of customer demand to be a greater challenge now than a year ago.’
