REPRESENTATIVES from the Federation of Small Businesses in Hampshire travelled to Westminster to meet local MPs.
They wanted to discuss the key issues facing small firms within the county, such as getting their voices heard within Solent Local Enterprise Partnership.
FSB Hampshire and Isle of Wight chairman Tim Colman said: ‘The FSB has always been an advocate of local businesses working in partnership with local authorities, however, it is now vital that small firms are included.
‘If these partnerships are going to be successful then they must genuinely involve local businesses to get things done – not fall into the temptation of merely paying lip service to the small business sector.’
MPs which took part included, locally, Fareham MP Mark Hoban and George Hollingbery, who represents Meon Valley, as well as MPs from Southampton and the Isle of Wight.
Mr Colman added: ‘The intention is to continue regular meetings with local MPs to maintain focus on the importance of small businesses to the resurgent economy.’
