THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised at a company’s charity golf day.

Organised by Portsmouth-based McAndrew Martin chartered surveyors, the day saw 64 people from local property-related businesses join in and raise £5,000 for Help for Heroes and the Ickle Pickles charity for premature and seriously ill babies.

Estate and letting agents Taylors of Portsmouth triumphed in the 18-hole challenge at Waterlooville Golf Club.

Team members also went on to enjoy a gala dinner where a flat-screen TV and a Help for Heroes top were won in a raffle.

McAndrew Martin director Ian Lee said: ‘The day was a tremendous success.

‘Our great thanks to all those who joined in, sponsored a hole, donated prizes and supported the event in any way as well as all at Waterlooville Golf Club.

‘It was a great way to raise much-needed funds for two very worthy charities.’

Winning skipper Edd Haddock, the director of Taylors of Portsmouth, was joined in the winning team by guests Lee Hayter, Andrew Simpson and Nigel Blake.

Edd said: ‘Overall it was an absolutely fantastic day and I’m still grinning from ear to ear.

‘The whole event was really enjoyable, and the organisation by Ian and the team at McAndrew Martin was superb.’

On the day, McAndrew Martin staff welcomed players, handed out goodie bags and organised the raffle, auction and competitions.

James Bengree, Lee Sargeant, Bruce Scott and Lewis Don represented the company in the tournament.

Each hole on the course was sponsored by local companies for £100 each.

Companies that sponsored holes included Brewers the Letting Agent, ADN, Less Tax 2 Pay, Deep South Media, Large and Gibson, McAndrew Martin, Corner Café, Portsmouth Property Association, Bernards, Poseidon, Brunel, Hughes and King, Duncan Mason, Jeffries, Chinneck Shaw, Splice Marketing and Lendy Ltd.
