A BUTCHER in Portsmouth has won an award for the quality of its sausages.

Solent Butchers Ltd picked up three gold awards in the BPEX Foodservice Pork Sausage of the Year competition.

The Dundas Lane butcher won the awards for its Cumberland; pork, sweet chilli and mango; and its ‘super’ healthy-option pork sausage. The competition runs ahead of British Sausage Week, which takes place from November 4 to 10.

Tony Goodger, BPEX’s foodservice trade manager, said: ‘Sausages are one of our much-loved foods, which makes it all the more important to recognise and reward those fantastic examples on menus up and down the country.’
