NINE Portsmouth properties were left without power for nearly nine hours yesterday.

Southern Electric engineers were called to Commercial Road at 11am after a fault was detected with an underground cable.

The power, which had been off since 6.30am, was restored at 3.15pm after a new cable was fitted.

A spokesman for Southern Electric said: ‘Our priority was to get the power for our customers back on as quickly as possible.’
