A SPECIALIST cancer treatment group has been listed as a top performing company in Britain.

The South Downs cancer centre, based in the grounds of Spire Portsmouth Hospital, on Bartons Road, Havant, has been listed on the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100.

The Hampshire centre was the first to be opened by Cancer Partners UK who came 33rd on the list.

It provides advanced treatments and treats patients across Hampshire, West Sussex and on the Isle of Wight.

Jacqui Dorney, centre manager, said: ‘It’s great news that we’ve been recognised by the Sunday Times league table.

‘We get excellent feedback from out-patients who not only appreciate the advanced cancer treatments we provide, but also the professionalism and warmth of our staff which can make such a different to their experience.

‘It’s this patient-focused ethos that makes a difference.’

The South Downs centre opened in 2009 and is part of a rapidly-growing network of centres run by Cancer Partners UK.

Jacqui added: ‘The opening of our South Downs centre in Havant marked the start of things five years ago.

‘Cancer Partners UK’s continued investment in new centres across the UK means more and more patients will have access to the latest technologies and cancer care services.’

Cancer Partners UK has been recognised on the list due to its ambitious drive to make advanced cancer treatments more accessible to patients across the UK.

This has brought with it more employment opportunities, with staff numbers increasing more than four-fold in the last three years.

The cancer treatment specialist was created to work with the NHS, private sector and charities to provide patients with access to advanced cancer treatments, particularly external beam radiotherapy.

The Fast Track 100 is compiled by Fast Track and published in the Sunday Times each December.
