THE AFT island of Portsmouth’s first new aircraft carrier has left its shipyard.

The huge structure, which houses the control centre for flight operations, left the hall in Scotstoun, bound for HMS Queen Elizabeth.

Many parts of the ship have been built at the BAE Systems shipyard in Portsmouth.
