A PAVILION will be revamped and roof repairs will take place at a historic hall, thanks to a cash boost of £10,000.

East Hampshire District Council has awarded a £5,000 grant to the help extend Rowlands Castle Pavilion.

Improvements include two externally-accessed toilets that are suitable for people with disabilities and as baby-changing facilities.

There will be a new officials’ changing room for female referees, additional storage space and a partially-enclosed viewing area.

Meanwhile, Horndean Community Association was awarded £5,000 towards a new floor in the main hall and roof repairs at Merchistoun Hall.

The laminate wood floor is more than 60 years old and can no longer be repaired to make it fit for purpose.

A new hardwood oak floor will be installed in the main hall and a leaking roof repaired.

Horndean Councillor Guy Shepherd said: ‘Merchistoun Hall provides valuable services. These repairs will help to keep this facility available for years to come.’
