THE opening of the new building at the Highbury Primary in Cosham was celebrated.
The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Councillor Steven Wylie and the Anglican Bishop of Portsmouth Rt Rev Christopher Foster attended.
Headteacher Sarah Sadler and Amiri Construction’s Trevor Horsham also celebrated the achievement.
The £730,000 single-storey building was built in 15 weeks by Fareham-based Amiri Construction.
It includes classrooms and a baby room and was designed by Portsmouth City Council.
Amiri director Kevin Lendon says the facility was built on time and on budget.
‘We’re pleased that the new facilities are now being fully appreciated by staff and pupils,’ he said.
The construction company is completing seven projects along the south coast for the education sector worth a total of £13m.
