As well as driving the coaches, it maintains them at its in-house engineering department, ensuring they are safe and as efficient as possible.

The company is audited by National Express every year and has now been awarded the highest accolade possible – the golden spanner award – two years in a row.

Managing director for Lucketts Tony Lawman said: ‘We strive for excellence in all areas of the business and our in-house engineering department in particular is a great example of this.

‘To be recognised by National Express for our high standards on the routes we operate for them is a clear reflection of the effort everyone puts in to maintaining and enhancing our standards.

‘It’s results like these that inject fresh motivation into our talented and enthusiastic workforce.’
