THE construction contract for a keenly-anticipated leisure centre has been awarded.

Fareham Borough Council confirmed Balfour Beatty Construction Services UK as the contractor for the construction of the upcoming multi-million pound Holly Hill Leisure Centre.

The new complex will be built on the site of the old Coldeast Hospital at Sarisbury Green. Work will start in June this year, with the new facility open to the public in the summer of 2016.

Executive member for leisure and community, Councillor Sue Bell, said: ‘This is a major milestone in the delivery of this long-awaited leisure centre.’
