Contractor chosen for projects at Daedalus

THE next step at enterprise zone Daeadalus is expected to get underway soon with a contractor chosen to build two key elements.

Hampshire County Council has awarded Mildren Construction contracts to deliver a new 25,000 sq ft industrial unit and 1.15km access road.

The new £7m road will provide access to the waterfront section of Daedalus and will start from the Broom Way junction at the east of the site.

The £2m unit, at Daedalus East, will provide high quality industrial space.

Councillor Sean Woodward, executive member for economy at the council, said: ‘The appropriate infrastructure within, to, and from the Enterprise Zone will help attract investment, support the growth of local businesses and create new jobs.

‘I am delighted the council is arranging and managing the delivery on the ground of these important infrastructure projects to significantly enhance the attraction of enterprise zone.’

Chris Wingham, managing director for Mildren Construction, added: ‘These are two key projects in the exciting programme to regenerate Daedalus which follows on from our current infrastructure works on the Daedalus East site.’
