DEVELOPERS are being hunted to breathe new life into the waterfront at Daedalus enterprise zone.

The Homes and Communities Agency today announced it is looking for firms to work on the 57-acre site in Lee-on-the-Solent.

The development at the area, known as Gosport Waterfront, could potentially unlock 1,000 jobs, the HCA said.

Around 3,500 jobs are expected to be created at the enterprise zone over the next 18 years.

Kevin Bourner, HCA head of area, said: ‘It has potential to deliver a vibrant and successful new area for businesses, with homes and community facilities as part of the offer.

‘We want to hear from interested parties about how they can help partners achieve their ambitions for this part of the Solent Enterprise Zone and create a development that people can be proud of.’

As reported, around £7m of government cash will be spent on improving access roads to the site.

Under HCA plans it will be a mixed development of homes, businesses, leisure, recreational and marine facilities.
