POWER has now been restored to almost 2,000 homes across the Chichester area after a blackout earlier this evening.

The lights went out just after 9pm in parts of Chichester, West Dean, Bosham and Fishbourne.

In a statement earlier tonight Scottish and Southern Electric apologised for the power cut and said electricity should be back on by 11pm.

A spokeswoman said: ‘We have 1,900 customers without power. We have four engineers on site at the moment working to get customers back on’.
