THE announcement that the Daedalus site in Lee-on-the-Solent is to become an Enterprise Zone has been welcomed by Hampshire County Council.

Ray Ellis, executive member for economic development said: ‘Hampshire is already a prime location for the marine, aviation and aerospace industries and the new Enterprise Zone will focus on growing and developing this area of economic strength.

‘We will now look forward to further government announcements around the Solent LEP bid for regional growth funding to help provide the essential infrastructure required to bring forward the development of the Enterprise Zone.’

Enterprise zones aim to boost the country’s economic growth and create jobs, as well as providing cheaper business rates, super-fast broadband and lower levels of planning control.
