Hovertravel, which runs a service from Southsea to Ryde, in the Isle of Wight, have also been suspended since 6.50am today.

Scott Henwood, supervisor, said: ‘Due to high winds across the Solent we have had to stop our services.

‘As soon as that drops we can go back to operating.

‘We are providing an alternative, as long as people have their tickets they can have a voucher to use on Wightlink services.
