A FAMILY-owned coach group has won a green award for its work to reduce its environmental impact.

Fareham-based Lucketts Travel Group collected the Green Award at the Coach Tourism Awards 2013.

This was the seventh year the awards were run, organised by industry publication Coach Monthly.

The firm was praised for its work across the business to reduce its carbon footprint, from training its drivers to be more environmentally-aware to monitoring emissions and reducing pollution.

Upon presenting the award at a ceremony in Manchester, the judges said: ‘This was a business that took its environmental responsibilities extremely seriously, making it a worthy winner in this year’s awards.’

Lucketts has also recently completed an investment programme in its fleet.

Ian Luckett, director of Lucketts Travel Group, said: ‘We’re delighted that our approach to reducing our carbon footprint has been recognised at the Coach Tourism Awards.

‘We have long understood that coach travel can be one of the most environmentally-friendly forms of transport.

‘All of us at the Lucketts Travel Group are determined to continue reducing emissions and cutting fuel usage; benefitting our customers, communities and, of course, the planet.’
