A FAMILY firm has expanded by opening a new premises in Leigh Park.

The Searson Family Funeral Service, which has branches in Copnor and Southsea, opened its third funeral home in Park Parade.

The opening included a service of dedication, which was attended by the Mayor of Havant, Gerald Shimbart, and local clergy.

Andy Searson, who co-runs the firm, said: ‘Our family has been part of the Leigh Park community since 1954 when our grandmother moved here from Portsmouth.

‘Since then three generations have grown up in the area, very much part of this growing community.

‘However, Park Parade isn’t what it used to be, with so many shops being closed down. It needed local business to make an investment and commitment to the local area and that is something we have done.

‘Park Parade is now taking a slow but steady turnaround. More and more people are using the shops and the hustle and bustle of yesteryear is seeing a comeback.

‘Our new funeral home has been very well received, already carrying out funerals, and we see a positive future for us and our local community.’
