A BLAKE Lapthorn solicitor has become a qualified mediator.

Sarah French, a family law associate, has completed a course run by Resolution.

The qualification enables her to practise as a mediator, helping families going through divorce or other problems to resolve their disputes without necessarily resorting to a lengthy and expensive court process.

Ms French has been at Blake Lapthorn since qualifying as a solicitor in 2006.

She said: ‘There is an increasing emphasis on mediation as a way of solving family disputes and it is clear that this is going to continue.

‘It is particularly helpful for parents who can put the needs of their children first.

‘I’m pleased that by gaining this qualification, I am able to bring these skills to our offices on the south coast and increase the range of services that we are able to offer.’

As well as a mediator, Sarah is also a resolution accredited specialist and a collaboratively-trained lawyer.

She is experienced in divorce cases and also deals with cohabitation disputes and pre-nuptial agreements.
